The Ontario Library Association Expo was held last week (January 31-February 1) at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in downtown Toronto!

MES Hybrid Document Systems held court at booth 905, with Kevin, Nick and Bob proudly displaying some of our favourite products: the UScan Microfilm Scanner, the zeta Book Scanner and FileBound Express document management system. All of which have their place as extremely beneficial tools in the library setting.

Microfilming is the storage of documents and information onto film. It is very unique because it can be viewed with the naked eye without software or hardware, it can hold an unlimited amount of data and is much less expensive than other means of storage.

Archive Writing puts your digital images onto microfilm. In more technical terms, it produces a technology-independent analogue back-up of your digital records.

Aperture card scanners are machines that scan the contents of aperture cards and produce a digital file. An aperture card is a punched card that has a microfilm chip affixed in a cut-out window. Usually 35mm tall, the microfilm chip contains a reduced image of a reference document. An example might be an engineering drawing.
